Fresh off supporting The Arcade Fire at their triumphant Madison Square Garden shows, Owen Pallett (‘the artist formerly known as Final Fantasy’) is set to release a new EP, ‘A Swedish Love Story,’ on September 28.
All of the songs on the four-track EP have been performed live at various times (including two at Pallett’s Webster Hall gig back in April) and a couple are quite old (here’s a video of ‘Scandal at the Parkade’ being performed back in 2006). At times it seemed like they may be destined to be unreleased live fan favorites forever, so the news of this EP is quite exciting and it’s great the songs are finally seeing the studio-recorded light of day.
In the release for the EP, Pallett said in part:
“To contrast Heartland’s convoluted record process, and also to cut myself a break, I recorded this EP in New York City over a week, using not much more than my violin, my Moog, a bass and a drum kit. It’s closer in sound to my first album Has A Good Home than anything else.”
We can’t wait for it.
The tracklist is:
1. A man with no ankles
2. Scandal at the parkade
3. Honour the dead, or else
4. Don’t stop (on my account)
Pallett will also be supporting Dirty Projectors in the northeast (which includes a New York date!) and The National when they head to the south and west.
Those dates are:
