CHROMEO RELEASE NEW SINGLE FROM THE FORTHCOMING BUSINESS CASUAL LP

The prodigious New York/Montreal-based electro-funk favorites, Chromeo, have issued another glimpse of what’s in store from their forthcoming third studio album Business Casual today, June 29th 2010.  Available at all digital retailers worldwide via Atlantic Records, “Don’t Turn The Lights On” finds the iconic duo exploring new sonic territories and themes while firmly holding their ground as the unrivaled kings of contemporary-yet-timeless synth-infused pop.

Premiering last Friday on Stereogum, “Don’t Turn The Lights On” bridges the gap between the electro favorites of their debut album She’s in Control, with the personal side of Chromeo that emerged on tracks such as “Momma’s Boy”, from their 2007 release Fancy Footwork.  The result is an increasingly addictive track that provokes heartfelt nostalgia in ways that only Chromeo can compose – delivering a nod to their 80’s funk and R&B progenitors while exposing the matured songwriting mastery to come.

Following their performance with Daryl Hall that the New York Times hailed as “Bonnaroo Gold”, the band is touring select festival dates in Europe while they prep an all new stage show for the Business Casual Tour beginning on July 26th, presented by Green Label Sound. Full list of North American tour dates listed below.

RECAP: Bonnaroo 2010 – Day 2

As the heat increases on Day 2 at Bonnaroo, so does the amount of music. It becomes a full-time job attempting to strategize whom to see while not succumbing to the outlandish temperatures. Friday was particularly packed with well-established musicians, and then of course there was the late night conflict that had everyone scratching their heads. The day began with eager patrons lining up for Conan O’Brien’s first set of the weekend as early as 5:00AM.

  • The Go-Betweens: Australia's Most Influential Indie Band Of All Time?

On a recent business trip to Brisbane [the state capital of Queensland, Australia], a bout of insomnia saw me walking the streets of the inner-city in the early hours of the morning. Heading north, a prominent sign caught my eye: GO BETWEEN BRIDGE. Lodged in the back of my mind was a recent newspaper story, detailing the re-naming of an existing vehicle & foot passenger bridge [linking Brisbane’s inner-city to the suburbs] in honour of one of the city’s most popular indie bands of the 1980’s.
