Crystal Castles- “Crystal Castles” LP Review

Upon hearing the first few notes of Crystal Castles new 2010 self-titled album, I feel as though an explosion as hit the core of my brain and begun to ripple outwards.  And when a band describes their influences as “murder, blank looks on girls, and knives,” I’m not sure you can expect anything less.

Crystal Castles, which began as a solo project for Ethan Kath in 2003, was fully launched into the electronic music stratosphere with the addition of vocalist Alice Glass in 2004.  A fixture on the touring and festival scene, including a headlining spot on the HARD tour this summer, Crystal Castles has made a name for themselves with their chaotic live shows that embody the chaotic sound of their music. Crystal Castles U.S. Album Release Date Moved Forward

Due to high demand and anticipation around the news of the forthcoming second self-titled Crystal Castles album on Fiction Records, the US will be following suit with the advanced UK digital release by making the album available immediately on Monday April 26th.

Following the debut of both the limited edition Record Store Day 12″ release of “Doe Deer” and first single “Celestica” last week by Zane Lowe on Radio 1, a few new tracks have since surfaced online placing the band at #1 on the Hype Machine chart today and straight to the top of Elbo.ws ‘Hot Artists’ and ‘Hot Posts’ as well.  Over 460,000 plays of “Celestica” have been tracked on Last.fm to date, so by popular demand the band is making the record available now.
